Sightly off topic but amusing to me is the fact that CB radio manufacturers have been petitioning the FCC for a rule change since 2017. The rule permits the 11 meter crowd to operate on FM.
Imagine the confusion as truckers and others who have older AM and SSB CB’s are hearing undetectable sounds coming from their radios. Why didn’t the petition include a new set of frequencies for FM?
As I understand it, no new frequencies have been allocated for FM. So the general consensus is that this move to petition the FCC is nothing more than a marketing ploy by radio companies like Cobra and President to bolster CB radio sales!
