Radio Readiness Is Not Enough

Hello Operators

Last week, I lost one of my closest friends, Bogdan. He was a former legionnaire and one of the kindest people you would ever know. We worked together in Germany and later in North Africa. His death was a hard reminder that radio readiness is not enough. We need to be physically prepared as well.

So I’ve been putting in the work each day with Junior. We typically march 8–9 km daily. There’s this thing they say: move, shoot, communicate. Though I have the e-bike, the Subaru, and the ATV, there are times we have to just get out there with boots on the trail. We don’t even have to think about the political situation around the world. We can just look at the natural disasters taking place. Sometimes, our only option is to get the pack on and get on down the road on foot.

With all that said, all of us GenX vets need to get dialed in again. We haven’t ever been this deep in the mud in our lifetime.

It’s past time.
